Ministry of Roads and Transport Opens Applications for KCAA Board of Directors Positions

The Ministry of Roads and Transport has invited applications from qualified persons for appointment as independent members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).

In a notice dated July 21, the Ministry said it is seeking qualified individuals with expertise in civil aviation, financial management or accounting, aviation law or business, and management to serve on the KCAA Board.

“Pursuant to the provisions of Section 13 (1) (1) of the Civil Aviation Act, Cap 394 lews of Kenya, the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Roads and Transport invites applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority,” read part of the notice.

Ministry of Roads Opens Applications for KCAA Board Positions

According to the notice, the Ministry of Roads and Transport is seeking applicants with demonstrable knowledge and experience in civil aviation, aviation law or business, management, and financial management or accounting.

Applicants in the accounting field must also be members of a recognized professional body that regulates the accountancy or auditing profession.

In addition, the Ministry said successful candidates will serve a three-year term in accordance with Section 13(4) of the Civil Aviation Act.

It further noted that the board members will be eligible for reappointment for one additional three-year term, subject to a favourable performance evaluation and the terms outlined in their instruments of appointment.

“Pursuant to Section 13 (4) of the Civil Aviation Act, Cap 394, the members appointed shall serve for a period of three years on such terms and conditions as may be specified in their instruments of appointment and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further one term of three (3) years subject to a favorable evaluation,” read part of the notice.

How to Apply

Interested applicants have been directed to access the detailed application requirements and procedures through the Ministry of Roads and Transport website.

Applicants are required to submit an application letter, a detailed curriculum vitae with at least three referees and their contact details, copies of academic and professional certificates, a national identity card or passport, relevant statutory clearance certificates, and a duly completed application form available on the Ministry’s website.

The Ministry further noted that applications should be hand-delivered in an envelope clearly marked “Application for Board Director Position” to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Roads and Transport, at Transcom House, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi.

Applicants are also required to email a soft copy of their application to recruitmentes@transport.go.ke by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2026.

Additionally, the Ministry said shortlisted candidates will be required to provide clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Certificate of Good Conduct), the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), and a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

It further noted that it is an equal opportunity employer and encouraged women, persons with disabilities and individuals from marginalized communities who meet the qualifications to apply.

Ministry of Roads cautioned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification and noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
