Kenya Airways passengers are required to pre-order special meals before their flight; the airline has issued a warning that ‘a nut-free environment cannot be guaranteed’ on board.
Food provision is customized in Business and Economy Class, but special meal requests need to be made in advance.
“Kenya Airways offers an extensive range of special meals to meet medical, dietary, religious, and other personal requirements. Passengers are encouraged to request special meals in advance,” the airline states.
Verified channels to pre-book meals on Kenya Airways

Go to Kenya Airways’ web page and select your flight and meal option by “Manage Booking”.
2. 24-Hour Call Centre
Dial +254 711 024 747 for a customer service agent to help you with special meals.
3. Sales Office
Inquire at any Kenya Airways sales office regarding special meal requests.

Special Meal Codes and Requirements for Airline Passengers
Special meals are listed under a code depending on the requirement.
Medical special meals available are diabetic, bland, gluten-free, low-calorie, low-fat, low-sodium, and low-lactose.
Dietary special meals cater to Asian vegetarian, Vegan, Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian, Raw vegetarian, Fruit Baskets.
Religious special meals include Indian Jain, Hindu, Muslim & Kosher special meals.
“Kosher meals (KSML): Compliant with Jewish dietary laws; must be ordered 48 hours before departure,” KQ confirms.
Hindu meals follow Hindu customs, while Muslim meals are Halal-certified.
For families, BBML is for babies from birth to 2 years with pureed fruits and vegetables, while CHML is for children 2-12 years of age with “soft, easy-to-chew foods and balanced nutrition”.

Kenya Airways In-Flight Meal Service Dining Options
The board stated meal service differs depending on the length of the flight and class.
Business Class clients are offered a glass of champagne or cold water on leaving the aircraft.
For short distances 46 min-1hr30 min), a cold/hot snack is given; for medium distances (1 hr 46 min-5hrs), a hot light meal is served; for long distances between 6hrs- 11hrs two hot meals are given, and for super long distances (11 hrs+) three meals are given depending on the time of day.
Economy Class are provided with a snack or a meal depending on the flight length.
In every flight, including Economy Class, nuts are available for snacking, and other food can be brought with, especially if one is allergic, if obtaining a note from a doctor.
