MP Escapes Injury After Road Accident in Kikuyu

Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament (MP) Clive Ombane was involved in a road accident in Kikuyu, near Nairobi, on Monday evening after the vehicle he was travelling in was hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu D-Max.

In a statement dated September 29, the MP said the accident occurred on Monday night and involved an Isuzu D-Max, registration number KDX961T, which he said was registered to Isuzu Kenya and leased to the Ministry of Interior.

He said the impact caused the pickup to lose control and roll onto the road shoulder, while his driver managed to safely stop their vehicle despite losing the rear right tyre.

“Yesternight as I was coming to Nairobi from my constituency we were involved in an accident after being hit from behind by a speeding Isuzu DMax (KDX961T) registered to Isuzu Kenya leased to the ministry of interior,” Clive stated.

Clive Ombane Says Other Vehicle Occupants Were Taken Away

According to the Clive Ombane, he and his team assisted the two occupants of the other vehicle after the crash.

He claimed the two were shortly afterwards taken away in a government vehicle, registration number GKB787J, before traffic police officers who had arrived at the scene could complete what he described as the proper procedures.

The MP said he had reported the matter to the relevant agencies, which he said were cooperating with the investigations.

He added that the Ministry of Interior had identified the two occupants of the vehicle as well as the ministry officers who allegedly took them away from the scene.

“We were able to assist the two occupants of the other car who were shortly after whisked away by a GK vehicle (GKB787J) without allowing the proper procedures by trafic police who had arrived at the scene,” the MP stated.

MP Calls for Action Against Officers

The legislator said he expected the matter to be fully addressed and the officers involved to face disciplinary action in accordance with the law.

Clive Ombane further confirmed that he was safe including those travelling with him following the accident.

However, the MP said they had experienced muscle pulls as a result of absorbing the impact.

He also thanked his supporters for the messages and concern following the incident, saying he appreciated their support.

“Most importantly I would like to say that we are safe except for the muscle pulls of absorbing the impact . To all my supporters I thank you for the overwhelming concerns and messages. I love you all. Sasa tujenge taifa pamoja,” read part of the statement.
