Mulembe Community Backs Ruto for 2027, Declares Mudavadi His Successor for 2032

The Mulembe community living in Nairobi has declared its support for President William Ruto’s re-election in 2027 while confirming Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi as its senior political leader.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, July 15, the group said it would stand firmly behind President Ruto’s bid for a second term, with members chanting “Two Terms” during the announcement.

The leaders said they fully support President Ruto and his administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

“As Mulembe community living in Nairobi, we wish to stand behind the President and fully support his re-election for a second term,” the spokesperson said.

Mulembe Community Declares Mudavadi the Community’s Leader

The group also threw its weight behind Mudavadi, describing him as the community’s senior-most leader.

According to the statement, Mudavadi has earned the trust of the community through his years of public service, having served as Cabinet minister, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and currently as Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

“We continue to support our senior-most leader, the Honorable Musalia Mudavadi, as he continues to support the President in achieving his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.”

The leaders further expressed confidence that Mudavadi is the best-placed leader to succeed President Ruto after the completion of his second term in 2032.

“We strongly believe that with his long service in government, His Excellency Musalia Mudavadi is the most qualified, trusted and reliable leader to take over from the President once the President completes his term in 2032,” the statement read.

The declaration was met with cheers and ululations from members attending the gathering.

Endorses Douglas Shiuka for Nairobi Senator

The community also announced that it had settled on Douglas Shiuka as its preferred candidate for Nairobi Senator in the 2027 General Election.

The leaders claimed that the Luhya community has more than one million votes in Nairobi and would rally behind one of its own for the Senate seat.

“As the single largest community currently living in Nairobi and supporting the UDA party, we have agreed to support one of our own, Honorable Douglas Shiuka, for the seat of Nairobi Senator,” the spokesperson said.

They added that any political leaders seeking to engage the Luhya community in Nairobi should do so through Shiuka, whom they named as the community’s spokesman and senator candidate.

The statement ended with a renewed endorsement of President Ruto’s re-election campaign, with members once again chanting, “President Ruto, two terms.”
