Panic in Bungoma High School after students were sent home at night on June 6, 2026, because of unrest and tension in the school.

The ongoing student unrest and tension in the country have forced many schools to send the students home to avoid escalation of the matter.

Students of Bungoma High were released at night and their parents were informed that their children had been released and should be expected at home.

Bungoma High had previously sent only form four students home due to the same reasons. Upon Form Fours returning to the school in the course of the week, is when the whole school was sent home.

The school administration has yet to communicate with parents about when the students will return to school. Their administration says that the students are home indefinitely.

This has caused panic among the parents of the students because of the time they were released. Many parents are taking it up on social media to question the school administration.

Other parents, on the other hand, are saying the teachers did a good thing instead of having another case of students burning to death like the Utumishi Girls.

Many schools in the country have released the students, mostly because of unrest and students burning or threatening to burn the school.

Learning To Continue

As the schools send their students home, Education PS Julius Bitok had said that learning in schools is supposed to continue as usual.

Many parents with children in boarding schools are questioning what the government can do to prevent things like this in schools.

This is especially after some Utumishi Girls’ students were suspects in the fire that killed 16 students.
