It's 'Not Goodbye': Habanos Lounge Announces Temporary Closure Ahead of August 28 Comeback

Popular Nairobi entertainment venue Habanos Lounge has announced that it will temporarily close its doors as it prepares for a major relaunch later this year.

In a statement shared with its customers on July 7, the club described the move as “a short pause” rather than a goodbye, saying the closure is part of plans to improve the business before reopening.

The management said the lounge will welcome customers back on August 28, 2026.

Habanos Management Says Closure is Part of a Reset

According to the statement, the temporary shutdown will allow the business to carry out major improvements, including restructuring, reviewing its human resource management, and renovating the premises.

“As we approach our anniversary and the peak season ahead, we’re taking a short, deliberate break to make sure we come back even stronger.”

The management added that the renovations are aimed at giving the venue “the rejuvenation it deserves.”

It also reassured customers that the closure is temporary.

“This isn’t Goodbye -it’s a RESET.”

The club thanked its loyal customers, popularly known as the Habanos Family and HB Boyz, for supporting the business over the years.

“You are the reason Habanos Lounge is what it is today. Every moment, every memory, every night is worth remembering-you made it happen.”

A Difficult Year for Kenya’s Nightlife Industry

Habanos Lounge joins a growing list of entertainment venues that have either closed, rebranded, or temporarily shut down in 2026 as businesses respond to changing customer preferences, rising operating costs, and increased competition.

One of the most talked-about closures was Paris Lounge & Grill along Mirema Drive, which ended its five-year run before management later clarified that the business would return under a new brand rather than disappear completely.

Another notable venue, Kentwood Address in Runda, also temporarily closed sections of its premises to allow renovations and a management overhaul aimed at improving customer experience.
