Sanlam Allianz Announces Major Board Changes With Two New Appointments

Sanlam Allianz Holdings (Kenya) PLC has appointed Millicent Onyonyi, OGW, and Hilda W. Mucuha as independent and non-executive directors.

The appointments took effect on September 30, 2026, according to a public announcement by the company.

Onyonyi is a certified executive coach at Conquest Limited, where she has served since 2018. She brings more than 35 years of corporate leadership and international experience, having worked with multinational companies including Leo Energy, Ola Energy, BOC Kenya and Colgate-Palmolive.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Nairobi.

She also has executive coaching certification from the Academy of Executive Coaching and other professional qualifications in enterprise leadership, strategic planning and retail excellence from institutions in Africa, Paris, France and the United States.

The company also noted that Onyonyi received the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) from the Head of State in recognition of her contribution to national development.

“The Board extends a warm welcome to Mrs Millicent Onyonyi and looks forward to her contribution to the Board,” the announcement stated.

Hilda Mucuha Brings Finance Experience

Sanlam Allianz also appointed Hilda W. Mucuha as an independent and non-executive director. Mucucha is a seasoned finance executive with more than 30 years of experience in financial management, strategy, audit and risk management, regulatory matters and corporate governance.

She currently works as an independent consultant after a career in C-suite roles in Kenya and across Sub-Saharan Africa. She has also served as a non-executive director in the banking sector.

Mucuha holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

She is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and holds a Corporate Governance Certification from the Centre for Corporate Governance.

“The Board extends a warm welcome to Ms Mucucha and looks forward to her contribution to the Board,” Sanlam Allianz said.

Sanlam Allianz Two Directors Leave the Board

The company also announced the resignation of two directors, Grace W… and Rose Agutu, effective September 30, 2026.

Grace Mwai had served as an independent and non-executive director since May 8, 2018. During her tenure, she chaired the Human Resources, Nomination and Remuneration Committee and served as a member of the Investment Committee.

Agutu had also served as an independent and non-executive director since May 8, 2018. She was a member of the Audit, Actuarial, Risk and Compliance Committee.

Sanlam Allianz thanked both directors for their contribution to the board.

“The Board and Management of Sanlam Allianz Holdings (Kenya) PLC are grateful for Dr Grace Mwai and Ms Rose Agutu’s contribution to the Board and wish them well in their future endeavours,” the announcement said.
