Sifuna Removed as ODM Secretary General

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has removed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from his position as the party’s Secretary General following a resolution by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
In a statement released on June 22 2026 ODM said the decision was reached after the NEC considered a report by the Internal Disputes Resolution Committee (IDRC) regarding complaints against Sifuna in his capacity as the Secretary General.
“After going through the report and the findings of the IDRC under Article 74(2) of the Party constitution, the NEC unanimously resolved toyy adopt the Committee’s rec0ommendations and endorsed the removal from office of Senator Edwin Watenya Sifuna. Effectively, Sen. Sifuna ceases to be the Secretary General of the ODM Party,” read part of the statement.
According to the statement, the NEC unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendations and endorsed Sifuna’s removal from office, effectively ending his tenure as the party’s secretary general.
Disciplinary
The party said the disciplinary process was conducted in accordance with provisions of the ODM constitution, including Articles 51(3)(f) and 74(2).

ODM further stated that it is addressing procedural and legal issues raised in the matter, citing observations by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) regarding the party’s disciplinary mechanisms.
ODM NEC received and considered the report of the Party’s Internal Disputes Resolution Committee that was constituted in accordance with Article 51(3)(f) of the Party’s constitution to hear and determine the complaint concerning Senator Edwin Sifuna in his capacity as the Secretary General.

Report Findings
After going through the report and the findings of the IDRC under Article 74(2) of the Party constitution, the NEC unanimously resolved to adopt the Committee’s recommendations and endorsed the removal from office of Senator Edwin Watenya Sifuna.
“Effectively, Sen. Sifuna ceases to be the Secretary General of the ODM Party,” NEC resolved.
