TSC Reopens Applications for 1,631 Teacher Promotion Posts

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has re-advertised 1,631 promotional posts for serving teachers seeking appointment as Deputy Principals, Senior Masters and Deputy Headteachers.

The Commission issued the re-advertisement to qualified serving teachers in line with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers.

According to the re-advertisement notice, the vacancies comprise 1,470 posts for Deputy Headteacher II (Regular), 132 posts for Deputy Principal III (Regular) and 29 posts for Senior Master II.

TSC said the 1,470 Deputy Headteacher II (Regular) positions form the largest share of the vacancies. The positions fall under Grade C4 and carry a T-Scale of 9.

The three categories bring the total number of promotional vacancies to 1,631.

TSC has directed interested and qualified teachers to submit their applications online through the TSC portal at teachersonline.go.ke.

“Interested candidates who meet the prescribed qualifications should submit their applications online through the TSC portal.”‘ TSC noted.

TSC has established a submission deadline of 12:01 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The Commission stated that teachers who applied for the same posts through the earlier advertisement and have already completed the application process are not required to reapply.

“Candidates who applied for this post under the earlier advertisement and successfully submitted their application need not reapply,” TSC Noted.

Application Process

The online application portal must be used by applicants, as TSC states that manual applications will not be considered.

The effective candidates will be assigned to the educational institutions with current openings as enumerated by the Commission.

TSC also stated that it is an equal opportunity employer and calls upon persons with disabilities who qualify to apply.

All teachers interested in applying for the promotional position have been advised to apply via the online portal before the September 14 deadline.
