TSC to Promote 34,016 Teachers: Requirements and Application Process

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 34,016 vacancies for the promotion of teachers across various job grades.

The advertised positions cut across multiple levels of the education sector, including teacher training colleges, secondary schools, primary schools and curriculum support services.

“The Teachers Service Commission is a Constitutional Commission established under Article 237 (1) of the Constitution. Pursuant to this mandate, the Commission invites applications from suitably qualified teachers and Curriculum Support Officers for the posts shown below in line with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers, and Curriculum Support Officers,” TSC stated.

TSC Promotion Vacancies

To begin with, the Commission has distributed the vacancies across different education levels to support leadership, teaching, and curriculum delivery. In Teacher Training Institutes

First, the Commission has allocated 131 promotion vacancies to Teacher Training Colleges, targeting leadership and lecturer roles within TTC institutions. These include:

  • Chief Principal – TTC (Grade D5, T-Scale 15) – 7 Positions
  • Senior Principal – TTC (Grade D4, T-Scale 14) – 7 Positions
  • Principal – TTC (Grade D3, T-Scale 13) – 7 Positions
  • Senior Lecturer I (Grade D2, T-Scale 12) – 15 Positions
  • Senior Lecturer II (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 34 Positions
  • Senior Lecturer III (Grade C5, T-Scale 10) – 44 Positions
  • Senior Lecturer IV (Grade C4, T-Scale 9) – 51 Positions

Senior Schools 

Next, the Commission has assigned a total of 13,070 vacancies to secondary schools, covering administrative leadership and classroom teaching roles:

  • Chief Principal – Regular (Grade D5, T-Scale 15) – 54 Positions
  • Senior Principal – Regular (Grade D4, T-Scale 14) – 148 Positions
  • Principal – Regular (Grade D3, T-Scale 13) – 770 Positions
  • Principal – SNE (Grade D3, T-Scale 13) – 6 Positions
  • Deputy Principal II – Regular (Grade D2, T-Scale 12) – 891 Positions
  • Deputy Principal III – Regular (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 1,068 Positions
  • Deputy Principal III – SNE (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 5 Positions
  • Senior Master I (Grade D2, T-Scale 12) – 2 Positions
  • Senior Master II (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 272 Positions
  • Senior Master III (Grade C5, T-Scale 10) – 1,665 Positions
  • Senior Master IV (Grade C4, T-Scale 9) – 5,956 Positions
  • Secondary Teacher I (Grade C3, T-Scale 8) – 20 Positions

Primary Schools

Meanwhile, the Commission has also emphasized primary schools by allocating 19,781 vacancies focused on school leadership and senior teaching roles:

  • Senior Headteacher – Regular (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 199 Positions
  • Senior Headteacher – SNE (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 5 Positions
  • Deputy Headteacher I (Grade C5, T-Scale 10) – 1,865 Positions
  • Deputy Headteacher I – SNE (Grade C5, T-Scale 10) – 20 Positions
  • Deputy Headteacher II – Regular (Grade C4, T-Scale 9) – 3,075 Positions
  • Deputy Headteacher II – SNE (Grade C4, T-Scale 9) – 20 Positions
  • Senior Teacher I (Grade C3, T-Scale 8) – 4,210 Positions
  • Senior Teacher II (Grade C2, T-Scale 7) – 13,490 Positions
  • Curriculum Support Officers — 103 Positions

In addition, the Commission has included the following curriculum support roles to strengthen academic supervision:

  • Curriculum Support Officer I (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 34 Positions
  • Curriculum Support Officer I – SNE (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) – 7 Positions
  • Curriculum Support Officer II (Regular & SNE) (Grade C5, T-Scale 10) – 69 Positions
How to Apply

Finally, applicants must submit their applications online through the official TSC portal: www.teachersonline.go.ke.

All applications must be received no later than August 10, 2026, at midnight.

In line with the Commission’s guidelines, successful candidates shall be posted to schools where vacancies are available, while manual applications shall not be considered.

The Commission emphasized inclusivity and fairness in its recruitment process.
