TSC Announces 20,000 Permanent Jobs for JSS Teachers 

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has invited applications from qualified candidates to fill 20,000 post-primary teacher posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency-Based Education.

In a notice dated July 28, TSC directed interested and qualified candidates to submit their applications online through the Commission’s website at www.tsc.go.ke under “Careers” or at teachersonline.tsc.go.ke, not later than Midnight on August 31, 2026.

To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

i) Be a Kenyan citizen.

ii) Must be a holder of at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching Subjects in KCSE or its equivalent.

iiii) Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.

“For equivalent qualifications, applicants are advised to visit the Teachers Service Commission’s website: www.tsc.go.ke,” TSC said.

Guidelines to Apply for the TSC 20,000 Post-Primary Teacher Posts

Candidates have been told to note the following before submitting their applications:

i) The Teachers Service Commission’s Guidelines for Recruitment of Post Primary Teachers for 2026/2027 Financial Year shall apply.

ii) Manual applications will not be considered.

iii) Be unemployed and have no record of exiting teaching service with the Commission due to disciplinary grounds.

iv) Candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates.

v) Selection of Candidates will strictly be on merit and based on the number of vacancies per County.

vi) Successful candidates must not fill more than one application for employment form.

vii) Successful teacher interns will be retained in their current sub counties/ stations.

viii) Successful candidates shall be required to teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum. Visit the Commission’s website (www.tsc.go.ke) for more information.

ix) The application portal will be opened on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 and closed on Monday, August 31, 2026 at midnight.

TSC Sends Warning to Applicants

The Commission cautioned applicants that the recruitment exercise is free of charge. 

TSC warned applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment.

Any fraudulent activity should be reported to the nearest TSC office or Teachers Service Commission headquarters through the following telephone lines: Director Staffing (0202892193) and Deputy Director- Staffing (0202892131), or write to the Commission through the email address dirstaffing@tsc.go.ke

Further, TSC said any such fraudulent activity should be reported to the nearest police station.
