Veteran Bahari FM Presenter Gladys Kadzo Ziro Dies

Former Bahari FM and Royal Media Services presenter Gladys Kadzo Ziro has passed away after an illness.

According to reports the journalist passed away on August 30 after her family confirmed that she had been battling a condition known as lupus.

Condolence messages from friends, colleagues and family members have started pouring in as they remember Kadzo as a familiar voice in broadcast especially on the Coast.

Ziro left the Bahari FM about two years ago after her health condition became chronic, according to information gathered by the family and people close to her.

Her Illness

Her condition reportedly deteriorated on Friday after she developed severe vomiting and weakness. She died on August 30 2026.

Ziro was regarded as a prominent media personality in the region, having used radio to connect with audiences across the Coast during her broadcasting career.

Her decision to leave radio came as she focused on managing her health condition, bringing an end to her active broadcasting career.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues, potentially causing inflammation and affecting various organs.

The condition can cause periods of flare-ups and remission and often requires long-term medical management.

Details of her funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family.

Bahari FM remains one of Royal Media Services’ leading regional radio stations, serving audiences across the Kenyan Coast with news, current affairs and entertainment programming in Kiswahili and local coastal dialects.
