2026 FIFA World Cup: How to Easily Watch the Tournament

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to begin on Thursday, June 11, 2026. The tournament will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, making it the first World Cup to be staged across three countries.

Matches will be played in 16 cities, including 11 in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada.

This year’s tournament will also be the first to feature 48 teams, up from 32 in previous editions. As a result, the number of matches has increased from 64 to 104.

The competition will run for 39 days and conclude with the final in New Jersey on July 19, 2026.

The expanded format has also increased Africa’s representation, with the continent set to have 10 teams participating in the tournament.

The tournament’s opening match will be played between Mexico and South Africa at the historic Estadio Azteca, officially known as Mexico City Stadium for the tournament.

The match kicks off at 10:00 p.m East Africa Time (EAT) on Thursday, June 11.

Where Kenyans Can Watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Football fans in Kenya and across Africa will be able to follow the entire tournament through SuperSport’s coverage on GOtv and DStv.

SuperSport will broadcast all 104 matches live, alongside highlights, replays, expert analysis and special World Cup programming.

Watching on GOtv

GOtv subscribers on the Supa, Supa Plus and Max packages will be able to watch all FIFA World Cup matches live.

  • SS La Liga (Channel 62) – Renamed SS World Cup Swahili
  • SS Football (Channel 61) – Renamed SS World Cup Pass
  • A special FIFA World Cup pop-up channel featuring classic World Cup moments and highlights

Fans who prefer to watch on mobile devices can also stream matches live through the GOtv Stream app, available on Android and iOS.

DStv Subscribers to Get Full Coverage

DStv customers on Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family, and Access packages will also have access to all 104 World Cup matches.

Dedicated World Cup channels on DStv will include:

  • SS Football Plus (Channels 222/202) – Renamed SS World Cup Central
  • SS PL (Channels 223/203) – Renamed SS World Cup Extra
  • SS La Liga (Channels 224/204) – Renamed SS World Cup Swahili

DStv viewers will also have access to special magazine shows, pre-match analysis and post-match discussions throughout the tournament.

How to Watch on YouTube

Football fans can also follow World Cup content on YouTube, although the platform will not provide complete live coverage of every match.

The official FIFA YouTube channel will offer highlights, analysis, behind-the-scenes footage, and other exclusive content.

Some official broadcasters in different countries may also stream the first 10 minutes of matches or selected full matches on their YouTube channels.

Fans in the United States will be able to access all matches through YouTube TV and FOX One subscriptions, while viewers around the world can use YouTube to watch match highlights, goals, recaps, and exclusive fan content.

YouTube has also partnered with several popular content creators who will provide behind-the-scenes coverage from host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

KBC to Broadcast Selected Matches

Kenyan viewers who do not have pay-TV subscriptions will still be able to watch selected World Cup matches on the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

However, KBC will not air all 104 matches.

Traditionally, FIFA has required only a limited number of matches to be made available to free-to-air broadcasters. As a result, KBC is expected to show a carefully selected package of games.

These are likely to include:

  • The opening match
  • Major group-stage matches
  • Games involving African teams
  • Knockout-stage matches
  • The World Cup final

During the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, KBC aired 28 of the tournament’s 64 matches.
