Share

A young lady’s body was found in the middle of the night in a trench located in Roysambu, between Zimmerman and Githurai 44, causing alarm and curiosity regarding what led to the girl’s death on the night of Tuesday April 28.

At the time, there had been no official statement released by the authorities yet, as far as one could tell from eyewitnesses’ testimonies on social networks.

However, the reason for the heightened interest is that the body of the girl was found in rather peculiar conditions.

For instance, it was mentioned that when the body was found, the woman had her phone in the pocket of her trousers.

According to the statement issued by Kiambu Magazine, “The body of a young lady was found in a trench between Zimmerman and Githurai 44, in Roysambu, Nairobi, at night. She had her phone in her trousers. According to those who saw the body, it is feared that she was swept away by floods and murdered.”

Conflicting Eyewitness Accounts

However, some accounts appearing online have disputed the flood narrative.

One user on X @ProjectMill2, challenged the claim, stating, “Niko Zimmer na I can confidently say hakujakua na mvua kubwa ya ku cause floods. This ain’t floods.”

Translated, this means: “I am in Zimmerman and I can confidently say there has not been heavy rain to cause floods.”

Another social media X user @maksea_, provided a more distressing account suggesting the woman may have still been alive when first seen.

The post read, “I saw a certain lady’s tiktok live aki record. She said the lady was not dead but they couldn’t help though she was struggling to breath. So they called the police who showed up 2 hrs later akiwa ameshakata roho.”

This translates to: “by the time they arrived, she had already passed away.”

Increasing Online Reactions to the Event

The event has generated emotional responses among Internet users, with some making connections between the tragedy and larger worries about safety under difficult weather circumstances.
