FIFA has confirmed the dates for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the tournament set to run from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
The football international body council has included it in the Men’s International Match Calendar.
Kenya will co-host the tournament with Uganda and Tanzania under the Pamoja bid. It will be the first time the three East African countries host AFCON together.
The 2027 edition will also be the last AFCON tournament to be played in an odd-numbered year, as the CAF plans to shift the competition to a four-year cycle.

In a gazette notice dated March 27, 2026, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said the changes were due to the scale and complexity of hosting the tournament.
“Whereas, upon review of the complexities, logistics and magnitude of preparations required for successfully co-hosting the 36th Edition of 36th Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations–2027 set to take place in early 2027,” read partthe gazette notice.
The government dissolved the earlier Pamoja CHAN 2024 and AFCON 2027 Multi-Agency Team and replaced it with the Pamoja AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee.
Antony Emmanuel Inzahuli Lung’aho was appointed Head of Secretariat, while a National Steering Committee chaired by Nicholas Musonye was also formed. Hussein Mohammed will serve as Vice Chairperson representing the Football Kenya Federation.
The confirmation of the dates comes ahead of a planned visit by Patrice Motsepe, who is expected in Kenya from May 11 to May 12 to assess the country’s readiness.
During the visit, he is expected to inspect key stadiums and training facilities to ensure they meet the required standards.
The visit follows preliminary assessments conducted in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, the three countries set to co-host AFCON 2027 under the “Pamoja” bid.
