Zahara Jolie Pitt, the adopted daughter of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has dropped her father’s name in her graduation at the U.S., where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology.

During the graduation ceremony over the weekend, she was announced on stage as Zahara Marley Jolie, with the surname “Pitt” not included in her name.

The 21-year-old, who has largely maintained a private public profile compared to her famous parents, completed her studies at the historically Black liberal arts college in Atlanta.

Her graduation marks a key milestone in her academic journey.

Pitt’s Name

This is not the first time Zahara has been publicly identified without using her father’s surname.

In 2023, during her induction into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorDority, she introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie in a widely circulated video from the ceremony.

Similar name choices have been observed among their siblings in recent years, according to various media reports.

In 2021, reports indicated that Maddox Jolie Pitt, the couple’s eldest son, was not using “Pitt” in non-legal documents and preferred “Jolie.”

Family Matters

In 2024, Shiloh reportedly filed to legally remove “Pitt” from her surname after turning 18.

Their youngest daughter, Vivienne, was also credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in a Broadway production Playbill for “The Outsiders,” which she worked on with her mother.

Another sibling, Pax, has also been reported to use variations of the Jolie surname in informal settings.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married in 2014 after dating for several years following their collaboration in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”

The couple separated in 2016 and have six children together, and they are Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne.

Custody Issues

The media has widely reported several legal and custody matters involving the former couple over the years.

Neither Zahara nor her family members have publicly commented in detail on the recent graduation name announcement.

Reports over the years have highlighted varying levels of distance between some of the children and their father following the couple’s separation.

However, the family has largely maintained a private life away from the public eye.

Zahara’s graduation has attracted attention on social media, with users discussing surname usage trends within celebrity families.

At present, neither the family nor their representatives have issued an official statement regarding the surname choice.
