Safaricom, through the M-PESA Foundation, has announced fully funded scholarship opportunities for Kenyan students under the Citizens of the Future Programme.
In a statement dated Friday, April 24, 2026, the telecommunications giant stated that the scholarships target learners set to sit the Grade 9 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) in November 2026, offering them a chance to join senior school in January 2027 with full financial support.
“The MPESA Foundation is offering fully funded Senior school scholarships to eligible Kenyan students,” read part of the statement.
Successful applicants will have their education sponsored either at the M-PESA Foundation Academy or at other partner secondary schools across the country.
According to the foundation, interested students must submit their applications by May 15, 2026.
The application forms are available online via www.citizenofthefuture.org and www.mpesafoundationacademy.ac.ke, as well as at selected physical locations including Safaricom retail shops, the M-PESA Foundation Academy in Thika, Safaricom headquarters in Westlands, and offices of the National Council for Persons Living with Disabilities.

Completed applications can be submitted via email to admissions@mpesafoundationacademy.ac.ke, by post to M-PESA Foundation Academy, P.O Box 7954-01000, Thika, or dropped off at any Safaricom retail shop.
Online submissions must be scanned and uploaded as a single PDF document.
Applicants are required to attach key documents, including a birth certificate, parent or guardian identification, academic reports for Grades 6, 7 and 8, and proof of financial need such as payslips or M-PESA statements. Additional documents, such as leadership and co-curricular certificates, are also encouraged.
The foundation stressed that only complete applications will be considered and warned that any missing documents or incorrect submissions will lead to automatic disqualification.

Applicants must fill out the forms clearly using their own handwriting and avoid attaching extra pages beyond the provided sections.
The scholarship application is free, and members of the public have been cautioned against paying any fees. Cases of fraud should be reported to the nearest police station or via the provided hotline.
Candidates will be assessed based on academic excellence, financial need, leadership potential, creativity and innovation, discipline, and critical thinking skills.
The programme is inclusive, with learners living with disabilities encouraged to apply.
The Citizens of the Future Programme is a partnership between the Safaricom Foundation and the M-PESA Foundation aimed at expanding access to quality education and nurturing future leaders.
At the centre of the initiative is the M-PESA Foundation Academy, a fully funded residential institution offering the Competency-Based Education curriculum with a focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, and technology.
The programme seeks to support thousands of learners across Kenya, with a long-term target of reaching over 30,000 students by 2035, helping build a generation equipped with skills for innovation and community transformation.
