The Board of Directors of Usikimye has made it clear to the public that they have formally moved to the judicial system to resolve the recent allegations amongst its staff.
The prominent Kenyan NGO, Usikimye (don’t be silent), faced a severe crisis of credibility and accountability following recent claims against its founders regarding the organisation and its leadership.
It has faced public backlash after a dramatic escalation of an internal dispute between Njeri Wa Migwi and Stella Khachina went viral on X over the weekend of Sunday, December 14, 2025.
In an official statement released on December 17, 2025, the organization confirmed that it referred the matter to the courts on October 31, 2025, seeking an “impartial and responsible” resolution.
“Usikimye remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of the survivors we serve. We are issuing this statement to provide a formal update regarding allegations that have recently come to our attention,” Usikimye Vice Chair Jess Mutie said in a statement
The Board stated that the decision to involve the legal system was made to ensure “fairness, independence, and integrity for all parties involved.

According to the statement, the leadership convened in accordance with organizational safeguarding policies and sought professional advice before determining that internal processes alone would be insufficient to address the gravity of the claims.
The board further said, they reviewed the matter before seeking appropriate advice.
“Upon receipt of the allegations, the Board of Directors was formally notified and convened in line with organizational governance and safeguarding policies. The Board reviewed the matter procedurally and sought appropriate professional advice to determine the most impartial and responsible course of action,” Mutie said in a statement.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the Board assured the public and its partners that Usikimye’s core mission remains fully operational.
The leadership has called on the community and its supporters to respect the judicial process as it takes its course, promising to provide further updates when it is “appropriate and permissible” to do so.
“We ask our community, partners, and supporters to respect the judicial process as it takes its course. Usikimye remains guided by its values of integrity, fairness, and justice, and we will provide further updates when it is appropriate and permissible to do so,” Mutie said on a statement.
