Ruto Announces Free Training and Monthly Stipend for 90,000 Unskilled Youth

President William Ruto has announced an initiative aimed at empowering young Kenyans.

He revealed that the government is targeting 90,000 youth who currently have no formal skills and have not attended college. Under the program, selected beneficiaries will receive full sponsorship for various vocational and professional courses.

In addition to covering school fees, President Ruto said each participant will receive a monthly stipend of KSh 6,000 to support their upkeep while they undergo training.

He explained that the initiative is part of his administration’s broader agenda to equip young people with marketable skills, reduce unemployment, and boost economic participation across the country.

“We are looking for 90,000 young people who have no skills and have not attended any college. We want to pay for their school fees for various courses, and we will provide KSh 6,000 every month for upkeep,” President Ruto said.

NYOTA, a stepping stone

Ruto further urged young people to take full advantage of the opportunity, describing it as a stepping stone toward self-reliance and economic empowerment.

The president said that his adminstration is focused on giving the opportunity those young people who failed to complete their studies to get into technical courses that they will be given certificates.

“The youths who have no skills and does not have enough education to take advantage of this initiative to venture into various technical courses be it, plumping, hairdressing, tailoring, mechanics and also electricians,” Ruto said.

He further said the government have identified various training facilities to train them and they will pay for them and an additional amount of ksh. 6,000 monthly to sustain them during the training period.

“In addition to paying the training facilities we have identified countrywide, each participant will receive a monthly stipend of KSh 6,000 to support their upkeep while they undergo training.
