President William Ruto presided over a crucial UDA National Governing Council (NGC) meeting on Monday, January 26, 2026, at State House.
The meeting was convened primarily to address internal party friction and to formalize new strategic directions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
President William Ruto led a high-level UDA consultative meeting to review the government’s track record and chart a strategic path forward.
Supported by Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki and Governor Issa Timamy, the session engaged key stakeholders ranging from the National Executive Committee to grassroots representatives, including Governors, lawmakers, and MCAs.
A thorough scorecard on the execution of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s manifesto, which was based on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), was at the center of the discussions.
Party leaders were informed of developments in several of the agenda’s main pillars.
The National Elections Board (NEB) of the party also provided a comprehensive report to the meeting regarding the progress of the UDA’s local elections.

Gathoni Wamuchomba was once a steadfast supporter of Gachagua, but their recent disagreements have resulted in their political split.
“I have decided this year I want to be maendeleo na kazi siasa tutapiga baadae na niko State House, niko nyumbani kwa UDA”, Gathoni Wamuchomba said.
This loosely translates to: “I have decided this year to be focused on development and work, politics will come later. I am at the statehouse, and I am at the home of UDA.”
