KUCCPS Releases 2026 Placement Results: How to Check

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has released the 2026 placement results for students who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

The results, announced on Wednesday, July 8, mark the completion of the national placement process for students seeking admission to universities, TVET institutions, colleges and other training institutions.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Agnes Mercy Wahome said the release of the results paves the way for institutions to begin admitting successful applicants.

“This marks the completion of the national placement process ahead of student admission to various institutions.”

More than 293,000 Students Placed

Speaking during the announcement, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba said a total of 293,869 students have been placed in various programmes across the country.

Out of these:

• 202,133 have been placed in degree programmes.
• 28,246 have been admitted to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
• 500 have been placed in the Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) programme at the Kenya School of Law.
• 765 have been admitted to Kenya Utalii College.
• 875 have been placed in Secondary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).

The placement exercise covered students who applied for degree, diploma, certificate and artisan programmes after sitting the 2025 KCSE examination.

KUCCPS had earlier stated that placement would be based on KCSE performance, applicants’ programme choices, available capacity in institutions and merit.

Ogamba Orders KUCCPS to Reopen Applications

At the same time, Ogamba directed KUCCPS to create a new application window for eligible students who did not apply during the main placement exercise.

He noted that while some students deliberately chose alternative education pathways, others may have missed the opportunity for different reasons.

“We recognize that some eligible students did not apply for placements because they may have opted to seek alternative pathways to higher education and training. For example, they might have gone to the disciplined forces or self-sponsored programmes in universities and colleges that did not go through the KUCCPS portal. Still, some of them may have missed the opportunity to apply because of other circumstances.”

The CS said he had instructed KUCCPS to study the reasons behind the low application numbers and trace students who did not participate in the placement process.

“I have requested KUCCPS to come up with a study programme to track and find out where these students are.”

He also announced that students who missed the application period will be given another opportunity to apply.

“If there are those who missed the opportunity to apply for any other reason, we are going to give them a chance to reapply, and we have directed the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service to immediately devise a mechanism to allow later applications for placements.”

Ogamba further urged all eligible KCSE candidates who did not apply during the concluded placement cycle to take advantage of the upcoming application window.

“I also call upon all the eligible candidates across the country who may not have applied and who may have missed the opportunity to apply during this concluded cycle to take advantage of this opportunity and apply.”

KUCCPS provides several official channels through which candidates can easily access and verify their placement results, both online and via mobile services.

1.Via the KUCCPS Student Portal (Free)

You can check and confirm your placement directly on the official portal:

• Go to the KUCCPS website: https://kuccps.net/
• Click on Student’s Portal or go straight to: https://students.kuccps.net/login/
• Log in with your details: KCSE Index Number, KCSE Examination Year (e.g., 2024), and Password (your birth certificate number or KCPE index number you used during registration).
• Once logged in, your placement details, including the institution and course you’ve been admitted to, will be shown on your dashboard.

This is the most direct way to confirm your result and later download your admission letter if placed.

2. Via SMS (Charges Apply)

If you don’t have internet access:

• Open your phone’s SMS app.
• Type your KCSE index number, starting with the year (example: 2024XXXXXXXXXXXX)
• Send it to the code given.
• You’ll receive an SMS with your placement details (institution & program).
• This is a premium SMS service with a small fee.

3. Visit a Huduma Centre

If you need in-person assistance:

Go to any Huduma Centre that offers KUCCPS services.

Tell the officer you’d like help checking your placement result.

They can access your placement details on the portal.

This is useful if you’re having difficulty logging in on the portal.

4. Other KUCCPS Support Channels

If you’re having issues with any of the above:

Contact KUCCPS support via email or phone (details are usually listed on the KUCCPS official site).

Quick Tips for Confirmation

Double-check you’re using the correct KCSE index number, exam year, and password.

Save or screenshot your placement page once confirmed.

After confirming, download your admission letter from the portal -it’ll be needed for registration.
