President William Ruto has today February 2 highlighted four key programs aimed at providing employment opportunities for the youth during his address at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu, as part of the government’s Nyota initiative.
The programs; affordable housing, digital jobs, global employment, and the Nyota application portal are designed to empower young Kenyans and stimulate economic growth.
Affordable Housing
President Ruto asked the youth if they had seen the ongoing construction of affordable houses in Kisumu, Siaya, and Homa Bay, receiving an enthusiastic affirmative response.
He noted that the government has allocated Ksh 96 billion for the affordable housing program, which includes the construction of hostels specifically for young people.
“This program will employ more than 500,000 youths as masons, carpenters, engineers, and electricians,” said the President, emphasizing that this initiative combines housing provision with significant job creation.
The President also highlighted the growing digital economy, revealing that 300,000 youths benefit daily from digital hubs across the country.
“Our target is to empower one million young people through digital jobs,” he said, encouraging the youth to embrace technology-driven opportunities that are increasingly shaping the modern workforce.

Finally, President Ruto urged the youth to explore more programs by dialing *254#, which provides information on available Nyota opportunities.
He encouraged all young people to take full advantage of these initiatives to secure employment and build sustainable livelihoods.
With these programs, the Nyota initiative continues to position youth at the center of Kenya’s development agenda, ensuring meaningful employment and skills growth for the next generation
