According to the National Police Service report on Tuesday, January 3, 2026, the operation, led by officers from the Mtwapa Police Station, was sparked by actionable intelligence leading to a criminal hideout in the Cabros-Tausi Hotel area.

The detectives raided a rented residence where they discovered a cache of concealed electrical devices and high-tension cables belonging to the utility company.

“Yesterday, during follow-up investigations into the theft of electrical devices and cables belonging to Kenya Power, officers from Mtwapa Police Station received intelligence that led them to a residence in the Cabros-Tausi Hotel area,” NPS said on a post of X.
