National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has called on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Central Management Committee to move with speed and remove Secretary General Edwin Sifuna from his position, warning that continued internal dissent could weaken the party.
Speaking on Sunday, February 8, in Suba South constituency, Mbadi, a former ODM chairperson, accused Sifuna and a section of leaders allied to him of shifting loyalty to the United opposition while still holding positions within ODM.
Mbadi argued that party officials who no longer align with ODM’s policies should step aside instead of creating internal friction.
“If someone does not want to agree with ODM policies… that person should be left to go so that we know how many people he is leaving with,” said Mbadi.
“Someone like Sifuna will not remain in ODM because already he is conflicted. He is now selling the agenda of someone else. Why are you pretending? You cannot keep him at the party,” he added.
The CS maintained that the party cannot allow individuals to pursue personal interests at the expense of unity and stability.
Mbadi urged the Central Management Committee not to delay disciplinary measures, saying the secretary general had demonstrated indiscipline toward party leader Oburu Oginga.

According to Mbadi, swift action would enable the party to continue operating smoothly and in line with its established policies and leadership direction.
He also dismissed the Linda Wananchi campaign associated with Sifuna, Babu Owino and James Orengo, stating that it lacks legitimacy within ODM’s official structures.

Despite visible internal differences, Mbadi insisted that the cooperation between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) remains intact.
“ODM is a solid party. There is no way it will fail. It will remain solid the way Raila left it. Some people think we can not play politics. We will, and we will ensure we talk to our people to remain steadfast in ODM under the leadership of Oburu Oginga,” said Mbadi.
Mbadi’s remarks signal escalating tensions within the party as leaders position themselves ahead of shifting political alliances.
