IRA Announces Fully Funded Scholarships for Kenyans to Study in the UK

The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has announced eight fully funded scholarship opportunities for Kenyan citizens seeking to pursue a Master of Science degree in Actuarial Management in the United Kingdom.

In a notice dated Tuesday, February 17, 2026, IRA said the scholarships will support successful applicants admitted to the MSc Actuarial Management programme at Bayes Business School for the 2026/2027 intake.

“The Authority is offering eight (8) scholarship opportunities to Kenyan citizens interested in pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Actuarial Management at Bayes Business School, United Kingdom,” the notice read in part.

What the IRA Scholarship Covers

According to IRA, the scholarship is fully funded and will cover tuition fees, travel expenses, accommodation, and other incidental costs.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science with at least Upper Second-Class Honours, or an equivalent qualification
  • Have graduated within the last five years
  • Have made significant progress toward becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (minimum five professional papers)

Applicants with First Class Honours will have an added advantage.

Details Required in the Application Form

Candidates are required to include their comprehensive personal and academic details in the official application form available on its website.

Under the Personal Data section, candidates are required to indicate their:

  • Full names
  • Mailing address and postal code
  • Telephone number
  • Date and place of birth
  • Gender
  • Course applied for

Under the Education Details section, applicants must list all schools and universities attended, beginning with the most recent.

Applicants are also required to provide details of their Actuarial Professional Examination Scores, including examinations written, dates taken, and scores attained, where applicable.

Application forms can be downloaded from the IRA website at www.ira.go.ke.

Completed application forms, together with copies of identification documents, academic transcripts, certificates, birth certificate, and school leaving certificate, should be submitted to:

Applications must reach IRA offices no later than Monday, March 2, 2026, at 5:00 pm.

IRA noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and warned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
