A serial robber suspect has been arrested in Kisumu, followed by a police operation that led to the recovery of a G3 rifle, which was reportedly stolen.
In a statement made by DCI on March 18, the suspect had been wanted by law enforcement agencies for a series of robberies that have residents living in fear in recent weeks
Detectives managed to track down the suspect to a hideout where the firearm was discovered concealed among household items.
The DCI said that the recovered weapon, a G3 rifle, which is commonly used by security agencies, is believed to have been stolen from a previous incident, raising concerns over how it ended up in civilian hands.

Authorities say the rifle will undergo forensic examination to find out whether it had been used in past crimes linked to the suspect or other criminal networks that are operating in the region.
Police sources indicate that the arrest could help unveil a wider net of criminal activity.
Investigators are now following leads that may connect the suspect to a chain of armed robberies reported across Kisumu and Kakamega counties.
The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

The recovery of the rifle is seen as a significant step toward restoring public confidence, especially in areas with high rates of criminal activity.
