Outrage as Mosiria Alleges Majembe–Mbavu Fight Was Staged for Fans

Share

A wave of controversy has hit the Kenyan boxing scene after Geoffrey Mosiria alleged that the recent Majembe vs Mbavu Destroyer fight was pre-planned.

According to Mosiria, the fight was scripted, and he was deliberately kept out of the process through alleged propaganda and false accusations.

The claims have sparked intense debates online, with fans and commentators weighing in on the legitimacy of the bout.

Allegations of a Scripted Fight

Mosiria claims that he had already arranged professional trainers for Mbavu, including one in Kenya and another based in Dubai, and had covered both training and accommodation costs.

“The entire boxing match was scripted by Obina, and that is why they created propaganda to keep me out of it. I had already secured Mbavu Destroyer professional boxing trainers, and all of them were willing to train him for the match,” Mosiria said.

He further alleges that false claims were made suggesting he demanded Ksh 200,000 if Mbavu won, which he says was used to justify excluding him.

“I was subsequently kept away from the entire arrangement through what I believe was coordinated propaganda aimed at damaging my reputation, including false accusations that I had asked for Ksh 200,000 if Mbavu wins,” he added.

Mixed Reactions on Social Media

Social media users had varied responses, with some supporting Mosiria’s position and others criticizing his claims.

Supportive voices included:

“@Wanyoike I may criticise you on some things but this one you are absolutely correct. I support you on this. This is the Mosiria we want. More serious Mosiria.”

“@Mugo Erick Inject kabisa mkuu.”

Critics argued that the fight was mostly entertainment and part of show business:

“@Kenyan SK 😅the pot calling the kettle black 😅😅🫴🏾 si mbavu alisema ati ulimshow utampea trainer lakini umpeee 200gees after the game 😅😅😅 Sema tu hawakuinvolve Sasa unafeel left our🫴🏾”

“@Official Okello Bro you don’t understand ShowBiz. Tulia upangwe.”

“@Fx-Mwangi That was pure business. They all knew. Even in slowmo you can see. 90% hype 10 thrill for fans. Just wasted time. Its a roman circus to make it even more political. Next time am sure that will be it. The other fighters who fought genuine matches deserved the highlight.”

“@Ja Yimbo The hype is already gone I don’t see vurugu 2 attracting any serious attention.”

“@Isaac Mwangi As a leader in Nairobi county why don’t you organize one of the professionals as you state. It shows how jealous you are, you have the platform but you can’t support the youth. Obina has shown he has qualities you don’t have.”

“@G3 It’s entertainment. Obinna organised and hyped everything. Please get new people, market them and organize the fair match. Life does not revolve around you Mheshimiwa. Btw, you knew those competitors courtesy of Obinna.”

Mosiria’s Conscience and Transparency

Mosiria emphasized that he chose not to attend the match to avoid misleading fans and maintain integrity.

He described the event as a “mchezo wa town,” suggesting it was a staged spectacle rather than a genuine sporting contest.

“I knew about it, and that is why I chose not to attend. My conscience does not allow me to lie to Kenyans who were eagerly waiting to watch a real match,” he stated.
