Share

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has secured a significant conviction after the Makadara Law Courts sentenced two men to death for robbery with violence.

The court found Devon Mboya and Dennis Mburu Kimani guilty after the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

As a result, the court imposed the maximum penalty provided under Kenyan law, underscoring the gravity of the offence.

According to the prosecution, the two men carried out a violent robbery that led to the death of a young university student.

“On 30th October 2022 at around 10.30 am along Ridgeways Road in Kiambu County, while armed with a knife, they robbed Keagan Benson Githua, a 24-year-old Strathmore University student, of his laptop and a mobile phone, after which they fatally stabbed him to death on the left side of his chest,” the prosecution told the court.

Prosecution Presents 16 Witnesses

During the trial, the prosecution, led by Maureen Mwenesa, presented a detailed and consistent case.

The team called multiple witnesses and relied on their testimonies to piece together the sequence of events before, during, and after the attack.

In particular, the prosecution used witness accounts to place the accused at the scene and demonstrate their involvement in the robbery and fatal stabbing.

This approach strengthened the case and helped the court reach its conclusion.
