The National Police Service (NPS) is mourning the death of Kitutu Central Sub-County Police Commander, Kazungu Charo, who passed away following a prolonged illness. An official police report filed at Nyanchwa Police Station confirmed his death.
According to the report, the senior officer passed away after a prolonged illness, marking the end of a difficult medical journey that lasted several months.
“Charo reportedly fell ill on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at night and was rushed to Mediforte Hospital at about 5 am for treatment, but later succumbed to his condition,” the report confirmed.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, his condition deteriorated further. He later died while undergoing care.
Sources indicate that Charo had been battling an unidentified health complication for nearly six months. During this period, he repeatedly sought treatment as his condition fluctuated.
He had also recently been discharged from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital in Kisumu, where he received specialised medical care. However, his recovery remained uncertain, and his health continued to decline.
