Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein has outlined what he describes as significant progress achieved during his first 15 months in office, pointing to reforms, tournament successes, and structural development within Kenyan football.
He noted that the administration remains focused on strengthening the sport’s governance and competitive standards while expanding opportunities at both national and grassroots levels.
“Only 15 months in office, the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) takes pride in the significant progress made in advancing football in Kenya.”
Among the key highlights he listed was the successful delivery of major international tournaments and improved performance by national teams.
One of the flagship achievements cited was Kenya’s role in hosting the CHAN 2025 tournament, which he said was delivered successfully in partnership with continental football authorities.
FKF also pointed to Kenya’s involvement in global women’s football development through FIFA-backed events.
“From the successful hosting and delivery of the CHAN 2025 tournament, to Kenya’s successful hosting of the FIFA Series Women’s, and continued growth across leagues, national teams, and grassroots development, the Federation remains firmly committed to building a strong, credible, and globally competitive football ecosystem.”

The federation highlighted improved performance and participation by national teams in major competitions.

FKF also emphasized international recognition and governance improvements achieved during the period.
A key highlight included acknowledgment at continental level for Kenya’s hosting of CHAN 2025.
“Kenya’s recognition at the CAF Awards, where H.E. President William Ruto received the Outstanding Achievement Award for the successful hosting of CHAN”
The federation further stated that FIFA restrictions previously imposed on Kenya were lifted following internal reforms.
“Lifting of FIFA’s restrictions against Kenya following successful fiscal reforms.”
FKF outlined ongoing infrastructure projects and long-term football development plans, including academy and pitch development initiatives.
These initiatives are aimed at strengthening grassroots football and professional pathways.
Kenya’s preparations for co-hosting AFCON 2027 alongside Uganda and Tanzania were also highlighted, with CAF leadership expressing confidence in the region’s readiness.
FKF noted that planning and coordination efforts remain ongoing to ensure successful delivery of the continental tournament.
The FKF President also responded to allegations circulating in the public domain regarding CHAN 2025 insurance arrangements, strongly denying any wrongdoing.
“The required insurance cover for CHAN 2025 was procured by CAF, not myself, and was duly secured and maintained throughout the tournament.”

He further stated:
“Contrary to the malicious reports, FKF did not transfer or pay any money to any insurance company for CHAN competitions.”
On governance, he clarified the administrative structure within FKF, noting that operational decisions are handled by the secretariat.
“All formal correspondence and administrative processes within FKF are conducted through the Office of the General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who also serves as the Accounting Officer.”
He added that the President’s role is primarily strategic:
“The FKF President’s role is to provide strategic leadership.”
FKF emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability while urging responsible reporting from the media.
“FKF remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance, and continues to engage constructively with all relevant stakeholders on this matter.”
The federation also cautioned against misinformation, warning that inaccurate reporting risks undermining public trust in football institutions.
