Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has outlined his political future after announcing that he will not seek re-election on the UDA ticket.

In an interview on Citizen Television, Kang’ata said he is not interested in presidential politics at the moment because the time is not right.

“I am not interested in the politics of presidential candidates. I cannot speak of presidential politics now; we wait until we reach that time.” He said.

Irungu Kang’ata added that although he has not decided which party he will join, he has set three conditions for his next political move.

He said the party must prioritize manufacturing, education, and a health insurance policy for the poor.

“Whichever camp I will join, I will have to give them one condition that they will have to give the following three agendas a priority: manufacturing, education, particularly day school education, and thirdly, health care and insurance policy for the poor,” Irungu said.

Kang’ata Views On Gachagua

Additionally, Irungu said that Gachagua has grown politically, and it is because of how he has been treated.

“Riggy G has grown politically, and I believe strongly that one of the reasons he has grown politically is how he has been treated,” he said.

He also commented on other politicians and shared his views about them. He said that Fred Matiang’i needs to work on becoming a better politician.

Additionally, Irungu said that Kalonzo Musyoka needs to refine his political agenda.

“Musyoka has a certain mien that looks quite attractive, being calm, composed. The area he needs to consider is refining his agenda,” he stated.

Tension in the Political Landscape

Tension continues to build in the political arena as Murang’a governor is yet to declare where he stands at the moment, despite pressure from political leaders like Gachagua.

This is after Irungu left UDA after saying that he could not agree with President Ruto on some things, hence his decision to ditch UDA.
