Shock as Ena Coach Bus Impounded by Auctioneers With Passengers on Board

A shocking incident has been reported in Nakuru after auctioneers allegedly impounded an Ena Coach bus, registration KDD, which was travelling from Bondo to Nairobi.

The seizure is said to have taken place along the route, disrupting the journey of passengers on board.

According to initial reports, the bus was stopped and taken into custody by auctioneers, with all passengers required to disembark.

The sudden move caused confusion and concern among travellers who were left stranded without prior notice.

Passenger’s Luggage Also Confiscated

It is further alleged that the passengers’ luggage was also confiscated during the operation, leaving many of them uncertain about the fate of their belongings.

In the video shared on social media, the passengers can be seen shouting at a person wearing an Ena Coach uniform.

One of the people is heard saying that the uniformed guy has been speaking over the phone for a long time without a solution.

“Please say the truth this time around, you have been on the phone and playing mind games,” the woman is heard saying in Luo.

Authorities and Ena Coach Management had not issued an official statement on the incident by the time of publishing.

Ena Coach Fare Hike

This comes after Ena Coach recently announced hiked fare prices due to the ongoing war in Iran which prompted EPRA to increase fuel prices.

Ena coach noted that it conducted an internal operational assessment before implementing the changes, referring to the need to sustain service quality across its network.

According to the new fare structure, passengers travelling from Nairobi to upcountry destinations via Narok will pay Ksh 1,700.

Fare Prices In Various Routes

On the other hand those using the Nairobi Nakuru route will be charged Ksh 1,800.

The Nairobi Mombasa route was been set at Ksh 2,000.

Within western Kenya, the Kisii Kisumu route now costs Ksh 700.

Meanwhile, long distance travel between Mombasa and upcountry destinations, in either direction, has been capped at Ksh 3,000.

The Changes Took Place Immediately

Ena Coach indicated that the new rates take effect immediately, meaning travellers will have to adjust to the revised prices without a transition period.

The company acknowledged that the increase may affect customers but maintained that the decision was made after careful consideration of prevailing economic conditions.

“We fully understand the impact of cost changes on our customers, and this decision has been made with great consideration and responsibility,” the statement read in part.

The fare increment comes at a time when transport operators in Kenya are struggling with rising operational costs which is largely driven by high fuel prices.
