An Instagram user identified as the_curious_builder has sparked an online conversation after announcing a paid live session in which he plans to explain how he built his small, affordable container home.
The content creator said the session will focus on the thinking behind the project, the layout, costs, mistakes, and lessons he learned while building the house.
In a post shared online, the builder said interested people would pay Ksh 2,500 to join the live session.
“Since this question about cost has come up a lot and seems quite persistent, I’ve decided to host a small live session,” he wrote.
He added,“How I Built Small and Achievable. I’ll break down the thinking, layout, costs, mistakes, and what I’d do differently.”
The Instagram user also clarified that he is not a professional in the construction field.
“I’m not an architect or contractor. I’m just someone who actually built the thing and lives in it.”
According to the post, the live session will have limited slots, and people interested were asked to comment “BUILD” to receive more details once the date and time are confirmed.

The builder also shared his personal views about housing in Kenya, saying many people struggle because they believe a proper home must be large.
He argued that smaller homes can still provide comfort and functionality.
“Maybe the problem isn’t that building in Kenya is expensive. Maybe we’re just building too big.”
He explained that a complete home can be created using two shipping containers with essential spaces such as a living room, open kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom, and an upstairs loft.
“No pressure to impress anyone. Just space that works.”

The Instagram creator encouraged Kenyans to focus on homes they can finish instead of starting large projects that take years to complete.
“Start with what you can complete fully.”
He further added,“A home you finish at 30 is worth more than a mansion you’re still building at 50.”
