Motorists using major highways across the country have been warned to expect traffic disruptions over the next six months following the movement of an abnormal load along the Mombasa-Malaba corridor.
In a notice dated Tuesday, May 12, 2026, P.N Mashru Limited announced that the abnormal load operation will run from May 11, 2026, to November 11, 2026.
The cargo, described as a wide load, measures about 38 metres in length, 4.5 metres in width, and 5.5 metres in height, with a total weight of 49,000 kilograms.
According to the notice, the cargo convoy will move through several towns and highways, including Mombasa, Voi, Kibwezi, Kitui, Kilimambogo, Kabati, Kiganjo, Chaka, Nyahururu, Nakuru, Eldama Ravine, Poa Place, Eldoret Interchange, and Malaba.
The abnormal load may slow down traffic along parts of the route because of its size and the need for escort vehicles.
Road users have been urged to remain cautious whenever they encounter the convoy.
“All road users on the affected routes are advised to exercise extra caution when in the vicinity of this abnormal cargo,” the notice stated.

Oversized cargo transport operations often require reduced speeds, lane management, and coordinated traffic control to ensure the safety of motorists and nearby pedestrians.
The operation is expected to continue for approximately 184 days, allowing the transporter to move the cargo across different sections of the highway network within the approved timeframe.
The transport company also provided a contact number (0733999299) for members of the public seeking clarification regarding the operation.
The latest notice comes just days after another transport company announced a separate abnormal cargo movement across several highways in Kenya.

According to a notice issued by TransEast Professional Hauliers on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the transportation exercise will involve oversized cargo, including transformers, earth-moving machines, steel structures, boats, and breakbulk crates.
“This is to notify all road users and the general public of the abnormal movement on the following routes. Please exercise caution when in the vicinity,” part of the notice read.
The company said the cargo would measure between 25 and 40 metres in length, 4.1 to 6 metres in width, and up to 6 metres in height.
The operation is scheduled to run from May 8, 2026, to August 6, 2026, between 6.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
Some of the routes expected to be affected include the busy Mombasa-Nairobi-Nakuru-Kericho-Awasi-Ahero-Kisumu highway, Mombasa-Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret-Malaba, Mombasa-Nairobi-Nakuru-Kericho-Kisii-Migori-Isebania, and Mombasa-Nairobi-Thika-Kenol-Makutano-Embu-Moyale corridors.
