KUCCPS Reveals When 2026 Placement Results and HELB Applications Will Open

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced that students who applied for university and college placement will receive their placement results by July 2026, after which applications for government scholarships and loans will immediately open through the Higher Education Financing portal.

Speaking during the KUCCPS Webinar on 2026 Revision of Choices and Placement Applications held on Wednesday, May 20, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome said students who sat the 2025 KCSE exams, together with candidates from previous years, will soon know the institutions and courses they have been placed in.

According to the CEO, some applicants have already received messages confirming that they secured one of their selected courses, although the exact institutions and programmes have not yet been revealed.

She explained that KUCCPS is still finalising the placement process, including validation and approvals at different government levels, before officially releasing the full placement results.

“By July, students will receive another message telling them exactly where they have been placed,” Wahome said during the webinar.

She added that within two days after receiving placement details, students will be able to log into their respective universities or colleges and download their admission letters.

HELB Loan and Scholarship Applications

After downloading their admission letters, students will then be required to apply for scholarships and loans through the Higher Education Financing portal  (https://www.hef.co.ke).

The KUCCPS CEO said applications for funding will open immediately after placement results and admission letters are released.

Students will be allowed to apply for both government scholarships and loans at the same time through the portal.

She noted that the amount of funding each student receives will depend on the information provided during the application process, especially household financial details.

Students were urged to provide accurate information and fill in all required sections when applying for funding.

The funding process will then be handled by the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and other agencies under the higher education funding programme.

KUCCPS Explains Why Some Courses Disappeared

KUCCPS also explained why some courses that were previously available no longer appear in the system during the revision process.

According to the placement agency, some programmes have already reached their maximum student capacity, meaning no more applicants can be admitted.

The CEO said removing the full programmes from the system helps avoid confusion and disappointment among applicants.

She further explained that students who have already secured placement are temporarily locked out of the revision portal to prevent them from changing courses after placement.

“It cannot be outside the choices you selected, whether 1A, 1B, 1C, choice 2, choice 3, or choice 4,” she said.
