Inside Cases Of Women And Children Being Found Dead In Kenya

Cases of women and children going through sexual assault and later found dead have continued to alarm Kenyans, with incidents reported across several counties over the past few months.

Several cases have been reported across the country. One of the cases is of a young girl in grade 10 in Vihiga County who was found dead after facing sexual assault near her home.

Police findings revealed that she was strangled with barbed wire.

Another case was reported in Nakuru county, where a 12-year-old girl was found strangled and with a severe head injury in a maize field.

Femicide And Sexual Assault Cases Across The Country

No arrests have been made in this case as netizens call upon authorities to look at the rising number of femicide cases.

Another woman was also killed in a stabbing incident in Kilimani, Nairobi, on Thursday after a man reportedly attacked her outside a pharmacy before turning the knife on himself in a shocking incident witnessed by members of the public.

Police are investigating the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and the events that led to the attack.

On the other hand, in Ntana Village, within Ekerenyo Sub-county, a girl met with her boyfriend, who later attacked her with a knife at around 1:00 a.m. Following the fatal stabbing, the boyfriend committed suicide.

Rose Benter Apondi, who was 21 years old, was found at Riat Forest, Kisumu. She was reported missing after allegedly being lured to a drinking spree. She later sent a distress text saying she had been drugged and assaulted.

Students Found Dead 

Another case is of Alice Riang’a, who was a JOOUST student and was 20 years old. Her body was retrieved at Bar Kowino Forest, Bondo. She allegedly disappeared after classes. Her body was later found dumped in a forest.

Connie Githinji was also murdered at Kileleshwa, Nairobi, inside an Airbnb under unclear circumstances.

Ann Muthoni Ngunjiri was 23 years old. She was found dead in her house in Kayole, Nairobi, after an alleged fight with her boyfriend. She had stab wounds and a towel stuffed in her mouth.

Debora Nafula, who was 32 years old and living in Bungoma County. Debora was allegedly assaulted during a domestic dispute with her husband and later died in the hospital from injuries.

Forty-year-old Jane Wambui from Kirinyaga County was also found naked and dead on a farm near her home. Her family suspected rape and murder.

Human Rights Organizations On Cases Of Femicide

Additionally, Jackline was riding on a boda boda at dawn on her way to the miraa market when two masked men on another motorcycle intercepted them and splashed acid on both her and the rider before fleeing.

She later died from severe burn injuries. Residents believed the attack may have been planned and personal because the attackers targeted her directly without robbery or confrontation.

Human rights organizations in Kenya have taken it upon themselves to ask the government to intervene in these cases of women and children being found dead.

Netizens, on the other hand, are also participating in calling on the government and also posting and talking about these cases so that they can be solved and the deceased can get justice.
