The viral student council elections at Tenri School in Embu have captured national attention, turning into a “mini State House race” filled with slogans, campaign teams, alliances, and even playful allegations of bribery using biscuits and snacks.
At the centre of the race are Junior Secondary School (JSS) candidates Allan, Sally, and Nevina, who are battling for the presidency in the campaigns.
All eyes are set on the live presidential debate scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026, which will be streamed online for the public.
The Tenri School election committee has confirmed that the debate will be broadcast live through official school social media platforms, allowing parents, students, and the public to follow every moment.

Tenri School IEBC-Style Chair Welcomes Media Coverage
The school’s IEBC-style election chair confirmed that media houses are welcome to cover the elections, noting that even national broadcasters have shown interest.
“Mark your dates, on May 25, we shall be having a presidential debate; we’re inviting all the media stations in Kenya, and NTV has already confirmed,” she said.

The Tenri School elections have gone viral across social media platforms due to their dramatic and entertaining campaign style.
Students competing for positions such as president, deputy president, and ministries like Sports and Entertainment have created campaign teams, posters, and slogans that mirror real political campaigns.

One supporter’s slogan trending online says:
