A woman has posted a video on social media explaining her experience of gender based violence (GBV) and appealing for help to the public.
In the video, the woman says she is from Kahawa West, and she was at her house when, suddenly, a man appeared and started beating her up.
She claims that the man is a Nigerian and he was beating him because she rejected his proposal.
“Alikua na kisu na chupa na alikua anataka kunidunga but nikahepa so akanidunga hapa kwa mabega,” she explains in the video.
She says the man’s name is Tunde, and while he was beating her, he drank her blood, saying that it is very salty.
“Alikua analamba damu yangu akisema ati iko na chumvi mingi,” she said.

Additionally, the woman said in the video that the man ran away after physically abusing her, and the man also thought that she was dead.
She then went to her neighbour’s house, where her neighbour took her to the hospital to get medical attention.
“I have gone to the police 3 times nimechukua OB, but sina pesa ya P3, sasa nitakufa juu sina pesa ya P3?” She laments.

GBV Cases On The Rise
The woman asked former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and CEC Geoffrey Mosiria to help her so that she could feel safe again.
She claims she is not living in her home because, allegedly, the man came back with petrol and threatened to set their apartment on fire.
As cases of GBV continue rising in Kenya, netizens hope that the government will do something to protect the victims and get justice.
