HELB Loan Repayment: How Kenyans Living Abroad Can Pay Their Loans

Kenyans who benefited from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funding and have since secured employment abroad are required to continue repaying their loans just like beneficiaries working locally.

While most borrowers in Kenya repay their loans through employer deductions or local payment channels, those living in the diaspora have several dedicated repayment options provided by HELB.

These include online payments through the HELB Self-Service Portal, international money transfer services such as Wave and WorldRemit, as well as direct bank deposits to HELB collection accounts.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how Kenyans living abroad can repay their HELB loans.

  1. Repay Through the HELB Self-Service Portal

HELB allows borrowers to make loan repayments directly through its online self-service platform.

To make a payment:

  • Visit the HELB website at www.helb.co.ke.
  • Click on the Self-Service option.
  • Select Loan Repayment.
  • Click Make Payment.
  • Enter the amount you wish to pay and select Pay.
