The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has announced that the first phase of Grade 10 textbook distribution has been completed.

In a statement dated June 12, 2026, KICD stated that the rollout was carried out using student data initially provided by the Ministry of Education (MoE).

“The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development informs all Senior School Principals that first phase of the distribution of Grade 10 textbooks has been completed guided by the data initially provided by the Ministry of Education (MoE),” read part of the statement.

The Institute added that the distribution process was guided by earlier enrolment figures submitted by public senior schools.

KICD Prepares Second Phase of Grade 10 Textbook Distribution

KICD stated that it is now seeking to confirm updated Grade 10 student enrolment data across all public senior schools as of First Term 2026.

“The Institute is seeking to confirm the Grade 10 student enrolment data in every public Senior School by end of First Term 2026 in terms of numbers of learners taking various subjects,” KICD stated.

Schools are required to provide accurate information on the number of learners in each subject combination during the current term.

In addition, the institution noted that the updated data will be used to guide the next stage of textbook distribution.

According to KICD, the upcoming second phase of textbook distribution aims to ensure that all learners receive textbooks for all subjects under the government’s One-to-One policy.

“This will inform the second phase of distribution of Grade 10 textbooks in order to ensure that all learners have received textbooks in all subjects on a One-to-One ratio as per Government Policy,” read part of the statement.

The institution noted that the submission will be done through an online form provided by KICD by June 19, 2026.

KICD further highlighted that timely submission will help ensure smooth planning for the next distribution phase.

However, schools that have already submitted their data are not required to resubmit. Schools experiencing challenges such as missing textbooks or excess supplies have been advised to contact KICD directly for assistance.
