Konza Technopolis Rebrands After Ruto Signs New Law

The Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) officially changed its name to the Technopolis Development Authority after the enactment of the Technopolis Act, 2026.
In a public notice issued by the authority, the change comes after presidential assent to the Technopolis Act, 2026 (No. 13 of 2026) on May 11, 2026, and its subsequent publication in Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 120 dated May 15, 2026.
According to the notice, the rebranding is in line with the provisions of the new law and reflects the authority’s expanded mandate under the revised legal framework.
“The name of Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) has officially changed to Technopolis Development Authority,” the notice stated.
Change Of Name
The authority clarified that the name change will not affect any existing obligations, assets, liabilities, operations, contractual agreements, or relationships with investors, customers, tenants, partners and other stakeholders.
It further assured stakeholders that all existing commitments and engagements entered into under the former name will remain valid despite the transition.

The notice stated that all references to Konza Technopolis Development Authority in official documents, correspondence, contracts and other engagements will henceforth be interpreted as referring to the Technopolis Development Authority.
The authority said the renaming takes effect pursuant to the provisions of the Technopolis Act, 2026, and is intended to align the institution with its broader responsibilities under the new legal framework.
Location
Despite the change in name, the authority confirmed that its location remains at Konza Technopolis along Mombasa Road.
The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering its mandate and serving stakeholders as it advances the development of Kenya’s technopolis ecosystem.
Stakeholders seeking more information on the transition have been advised to channel their inquiries through the official email address.

The notice was signed by Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri, who called on all stakeholders to take note of the change accordingly.
The authority also directed members of the public to access the Technopolis Act through its website for additional information regarding the transition.
