TSC Postpones Teacher Interviews After Raila Odinga Holiday Declaration

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the rescheduling of all promotional interviews initially planned for Friday, October 17, 2025, following the government’s declaration of the day as a public holiday in honour of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga.

In a circular dated October 16, 2025, and signed by E. J. Mitei, the Acting Commission Secretary and CEO, the commission informed all teachers that the interviews had been suspended and would be conducted on new dates.

“Following the Government’s declaration of Friday, 17th October, 2025 as a Public Holiday in honour of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, the Teachers Service Commission has suspended all promotional interviews previously scheduled for that day,” read part of the circular.

New Interview Dates Announced

The commission confirmed that the affected interviews will now be conducted over three working days, from Tuesday, October 21 to Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Teachers who were slated to attend the interviews will receive detailed communication from their respective Regional Directors, who will provide revised schedules and logistical information.

“Your respective Regional Director will communicate the revised schedule and logistical details in due course,” the circular added.

Commission Appreciates Teachers’ Understanding

TSC expressed appreciation for teachers’ professionalism, commitment, and understanding amid the sudden changes, assuring them that the adjustments were made to respect the national mourning period and government directive.

The circular also acknowledged the significance of the moment, urging teachers to take time to reflect on Raila Odinga’s legacy, describing him as a national icon whose contributions to democracy and education remain indelible.
