Nation Media Group Director Dennis Aluanga Retires After 33 Years

Dennis Aluanga is set to retire from the Board of Directors of Nation Media Group PLC, effective 26th June 2026, after more than 30 years with the media giant.

Aluanga has been a member of the board of the company since October 1991, and has previously served in various senior finance, strategy, and operations leadership positions, rising to Group Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, before moving to an out-of-executive role in December 2007.

He joined the board of Nation Media Group in March 2009 as a Non-Executive Director and served as Deputy Chairman of the Board from April 2018 until his retirement.

In his capacity as a member of the Board, Mr. Aluanga continued to contribute with his valuable guidance and oversight through various board committees.

Retirement of a Long-Serving Executive Mr. Dennis from Nation Media Group PLC, Marking a Period of Growth and Diversification

Aluanga’s retirement follows his thirty years with the Group that began in the same year that Kenya introduced multi-party democracy.

He presided over the Group’s growth, diversification and regional expansion, including into television and radio platforms and digitization initiatives across East Africa.

The Group had announced recently that it would also bring an end to a joint media buying arrangement it had with SAATCHI & SAATCHI as the Group seeks greater in-house control.

The Company is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, and the announcement on Mr. Aluanga’s retirement was issued as a Public Announcement by the Company to its shareholders and stakeholders.
