KNEC Announces 2026 KCSE Assessor Jobs; How to Apply

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of secondary school teachers and college tutors to serve as assessors for the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical examinations.
In a notice dated June 30, the examinations council invited qualified teachers and tutors to apply for the positions, saying the successful candidates will assess oral and practical examination papers and receive on-the-job training during the assessment process.
“KNEC is recruiting secondary school teachers / college tutors as assessors for the KCSE examination Oral and Practical papers. The professionals identified will be trained on-the-job during assessment of the 2026 KCSE examination papers,” read part of the notice.
The recruitment exercise will run from June 22 to July 15, 2026, with KNEC urging interested applicants to submit their applications before the deadline.
KNEC Opens Applications for 2026 KCSE Oral and Practical Assessors
According to KNEC, recruitment is being conducted for assessors in seven KCSE oral and practical examination papers.
The subjects include Power Mechanics Practical (447/2), Electricity Practical (448/2), Aviation Technology Practical (450/2), French Oral Paper (501/3), German Oral Paper (502/3), Arabic Oral Paper (503/3), and Music Practical (511/1).

The council noted that the selected professionals will be trained while carrying out the assessment of the 2026 KCSE examinations.
Additionally, KNEC said applicants must be practicing teachers or college tutors in the relevant subjects and must be registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or another recognized professional body.
Applicants are also required to possess a diploma or higher qualification in education or the relevant area of specialization.
However, those seeking to assess Aviation Technology Practical papers must additionally hold a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.
How to Apply
Interested candidates have been directed to submit their applications through the KNEC Careers portal on the council’s website.

KNEC said detailed application instructions are available online on their KNEC website www.knec.ac.ke/careers/.
The council also encouraged eligible teachers and tutors to complete the process before the recruitment window closes. The deadline for submitting applications is July 15, 2026.
The council further clarified that teachers and tutors who are already listed in the KNEC database of assessors should not submit fresh applications.
