How to Apply for Dual Citizenship in Kenya: Fees, Requirements and Process

These platforms simplify applications for Kenyans seeking to register another nationality.

To begin with, applicants must access the process through the eCitizen platform. After logging in or creating an account, users proceed to immigration services and are redirected to the eFNS portal, where they complete the dual citizenship application.

Applicants must pay a total of Ksh 30,000 through the official system:

• Ksh 20,000 – Non-refundable application fee
• Ksh 10,000 – Issuance fee

Step-by-Step Dual Citizenship Application Process

To complete the dual citizenship application successfully, follow these steps:

• Apply Online: First, log into eCitizen and navigate to immigration services. Next, access the eFNS portal and fill in Form 3 under the dual citizenship section. Once you complete the form, download and print it.
• Notarize the Form: After printing, take the form to a Commissioner for Oaths or a Notary Public for signing and stamping. This step confirms the authenticity of the information you provided.
• Pay the Fees: Then, complete payment through the official channels provided on the platform.
• Submit the Application: Finally, submit the notarized form together with all supporting documents at the Department of Immigration Services headquarters in Nairobi, or a Kenyan Embassy or Consulate if applying from abroad

Required Documents

To avoid delays, prepare the following documents in advance:

• Proof of Kenyan Citizenship: Provide a Kenyan National ID and/or a Kenyan Passport to confirm your citizenship status.
• Proof of Other Citizenship: Submit a copy of your foreign passport together with a naturalization or citizenship certificate. Ensure these documents are notarized and translated into English where necessary.
• Personal Documents: Include a copy of your birth certificate and three recent passport-size photographs taken within the last six months.
