Missing Mississippi Boy Nolan Wells Found Dead

Nolan Wells, who is an 18-year-old black boy, went missing on July 4 while out with his friends and has been found dead in Horn Island, Mississippi.
Nolan had gone out to celebrate July 4 with his white friends on Horn Island while on a boat ride, when his friends allegedly left him on the island, claiming they assumed he had another ride.
When Nolan failed to get home on that day, his mother reported him missing to the police, and they began searching for him.
However, the search did not have a happy ending because Nolan was found dead at the end of Horn Island.
Body Found
Authorities positively identified Nolan Wells’ body through dental records and DNA analysis.
Reports indicate that Nolan was last seen walking on the island at about 3:00 p.m. while talking to a girl identified as Katie, whom he had met earlier that day.

Footage reportedly shows him also walking with three others at around the same time.
Katie’s mother has publicly confirmed that her daughter was with Nolan that day, and they parted ways.
Katie has remained in contact with Nolan’s family.
Investigations Into The Matter
The three white friends who went with them to the island left without him, and they are telling authorities that they assumed he had another ride.
A park ranger found Nolan’s body on July 6, and police suspect he drowned. However, investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of death.
Police are questioning Nolan’s friends as part of the investigation. Authorities have also established that there is no evidence of drug or alcohol use in connection with the case.
Nolan’s death has generated enormous attention and intense speculation online.
Questions Online
Questions have circulated about the three friends who travelled with him, why they left the island without him, the young woman reportedly seen talking with him, and what happened during the hours between Nolan’s last confirmed sighting and the discovery of his body.
Law enforcement has not publicly identified the three friends who travelled with Nolan.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has not publicly identified a suspect, announced criminal charges, or officially classified Nolan’s death as a homicide.
