Nairobi Among 8 Counties to Experience Power Interruptions on Thursday (LIST OF AFFECTED ESTATES)

Thousands of Kenya Power customers in Nairobi and seven other counties will be without electricity on Thursday, July 9, after the board announced planned power interruptions to facilitate maintenance of its distribution network.
According to a power interruption notice, the scheduled outages will affect parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Meru, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kisii.
Most areas will be without electricity between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, although some parts of Meru will be affected from 8:00 am, while sections of Kilifi will have power restored by 4:00 pm.
“The listed areas will experience planned power interruptions to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of the electricity network,” Kenya Power stated in the notice.
In Nairobi, customers in South C and parts of Kibera will be affected.
Estates and institutions listed include Nairobi South Hospital, Bellevue, Kenya Red Cross, KNEC South C, Toyota Kenya, Kenya Revenue Estate, NextGen Park, Dafam Hotel, Ole Sereni Hotel, Highview Estate, Raila Estate, Soweto Academy, Olympic Primary and Secondary School, Kibera Law Courts and neighbouring customers.

Scheduled Power Outages in Kiambu and Mt. Kenya Region
Kiambu County will also experience widespread outages in JKUAT University, Juja Town, Kiambaa, parts of Zambezi, and Thamanda.
Residential estates, schools, hotels, and businesses, including Kalimoni, Gachororo, Juja Police Station, Green Field Estate, Superhighway East, Kamuguga, and Kanyajara, are among the affected areas.
In the Mt. Kenya region, Kenya Power scheduled maintenance in Meru, Nyeri, and Murang’a counties.
Residents in Kaithe, Githongo, Mpuri, Othaya, Iriani, Gitinga Village, Kamburaini, Kahuhia, Mukangu, and Kiria, together with nearby trading centres, schools, and health facilities, are expected to experience day-long outages.

Kenya Power Scheduled Outages Along the Coastal Region
Along the Coast, customers in Kilifi will lose power in Msabaha and Baraka Chembe, including Malindi Airport and nearby estates, while in Mombasa, the interruption will affect Jomvu Jitoni, Jomvu Alidina, Sunpac, Aston Jomvu EPZ, and Black Devil Village.
In Kisii County, customers in Nyamache, Borangi and Igare will also be affected.
Kenya Power advised customers to plan, adding that “all power lines should be treated as live at all times” during the maintenance exercise and that electricity supply will be restored immediately after the scheduled works are completed.
