Kenya Airways is giving passengers four ways to add extra baggage, with a 20% discount for those who pre-pay online at least 24 hours before flying.

The airline says travelers can buy additional luggage through the “Kenya Airways Manage Booking portal,” pay at the airport, call the Global Contact Center, or redeem Asante Rewards points.

“Purchase it in advance through the Kenya Airways Manage Booking portal to receive a 20% discount,” the airline advises.

The airline added that passengers who wait until the airport will pay more.

Kenya Airways notes that excess baggage paid “at the check-in desk” incurs “higher, non-discounted standard fees.”

Travelers can also contact KQ directly.

The airline lists its Global Contact Center as +254 711 024 747 and email asante@kenya-airways.com “to process payment or redeem Asante Rewards Points.”

Asante Rewards is Kenya Airways’ loyalty and frequent flyer program.

Travelers can earn rewards and top up their points every time they fly with Kenya Airways or with another airline that belongs to the SkyTeam alliance.

Asante Rewards members can now convert points into extra luggage.

“As an Asante Rewards member, you can now redeem your points for additional baggage allowance,” the airline states.

The Airline states that redemption starts with just 3,000 Points on domestic flights, but minimum requirements vary by route type and destination.

Redeeming Kenya Airways Asante Rewards Points for Flights and Using WhatsApp for Luggage Services

To redeem, members must first “Check Your Points Balance” to ensure they have enough.

They must also “Book Your Flight” with Kenya Airways and “ensure your Asante Rewards number is included in your reservation.”

Redemption is then done through the contact center.

After that, your points will be deducted from your account automatically, and you’ll receive email confirmation of the redemption and an EMD.

WhatsApp is another option; passengers can message +254 705 474 747 to speak to a KQ agent and add extra luggage.

Kenya Airways says the options are designed to give flexibility to travelers, whether you’re traveling for business or leisure.
