Serena Hotels Appoints New Non-Executive Directors

TPS Eastern Africa PLC has appointed banking executive Shahzad Karim and business leader Serah Katusya as non-executive directors, effective July 13, 2026.

The company’s Board of Directors announced the appointments in accordance with the Capital Markets (Public Offers, Listings and Disclosures) Regulations, 2023.

According to TPS Eastern Africa PLC, Karim holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Simon Fraser University in Canada and a Global CEO certification from Strathmore University Business School, Lagos Business School, and Yale School of Management.

The company says Karim brings four decades of experience in East Africa’s financial services sector, having worked in corporate and institutional banking, wholesale banking, credit, and lending.

She previously served at Diamond Trust Bank Kenya as director of Special Business Projects and earlier as Director of Corporate and Institutional Banking for more than twenty years.

She has also served on the board of Diamond Trust Bancassurance Intermediary Ltd.

The board has also appointed Serah Katusya as a non-executive director.

Serah holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Hult International Business School, a Senior Executive Leadership Programme Certificate from Harvard Business School.

She also has a Postgraduate qualification in business, general management, strategy, marketing, and operations from the University of Liverpool.

Additionally, Serah currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Belva Group Kenya.

TPS Eastern Africa said she has been instrumental in driving commercial growth and business transformation at the company.

Before joining Belva Group Kenya, Katusya held senior leadership roles at WPP SCANGROUP, including Managing Director of GroupM Sub-Saharan Africa, Managing Director of Mediacom, and Country Manager for JWT & Scangroup Tanzania.

During her career, she worked with clients including Safaricom, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, KCB Bank and Brand Kenya.

The Board welcomed the appointments of Karim and Serah, expressing confidence in their leadership and wishing them success in their new roles as non-executive directors of TPS Eastern Africa PLC.
