How Top Lawyer Elizabeth Koki Musyoki Was Killed in Her Syokimau Home
Share
On the morning of January 8, 2021, concern grew when Elizabeth Musyoki failed to leave her Syokimau home for work.
Hours later, her house help entered the bedroom and found Elizabeth Musyoki unresponsive. That discovery marked the beginning of a murder case that would later expose a violent relationship and end in a 40-year prison sentence.
At 34, Musyoki had built a solid legal career; she worked as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and founded Koki & Associates, a firm offering legal and human resource consultancy services.
From her Syokimau base in Machakos County, she steadily grew her reputation within legal and corporate circles.
Beyond her career, she raised two children and kept her life private. Colleagues and friends consistently described her as focused, independent, and committed to her work.
Relationship Between Elizabeth Musyoki and Christian Kadima
However, Elizabeth’s personal life took a different turn when she entered a relationship with Christian Baledi Kadima.
The two lived together at her Syokimau residence, but their relationship quickly showed signs of strain.
According to court proceedings, arguments became frequent.
Then, on the night of January 7, 2021, Elizabeth Musyoki confronted Kadima after finding photos of another woman on his phone, and the confrontation escalated quickly, setting the stage for what followed.

What Happened on the Night of the Murder
As the argument intensified, it turned physical.
Evidence presented in court showed a struggle inside the bedroom.
A post-mortem later confirmed that Musyoki died from asphyxia due to suffocation, with injuries that pointed to a violent fight.
Immediately after the incident, Kadima fled and drove off in her car, abandoned it later, and attempted to mislead investigators about his movements.
At first, he claimed she had fallen and hit her head.
However, medical evidence directly contradicts that version of events.

Arrest and Trial
Meanwhile, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations launched a manhunt and traced Kadima to a lodging facility in Nairobi, where he had checked in under false details on January 8, 2021, barely a day after the murder.
“Detectives have finally arrested Christian Mwambay Kadima, who has been on the run since the wee hours of the morning, following the gruesome murder of a prominent city lawyer. Our boys who have been hot on his trail, have some minutes ago smoked him out of his hideout,” the DCI reported.
During the trial, prosecutors called multiple witnesses and presented forensic evidence that directly linked him to the murder.
Consequently, the court found him guilty in 2025, ruling that the prosecution had proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt and then sentenced him to 40 years in prison.
